We Need Recyclable Materials!

We encourage children to be conscious of the environment and think differently about how they can re-use, re-purpose and recycle the items they use on a regular basis. Help us by replenishing our supply of recycled items that children may then upcycle into artistic creations throughout the Museum. The spot...a Child's Museum needs a variety of clean and child-appropriate items kids can turn into robots, buildings, simple machines, art and more.

The spot...a Child's Museum will be open to receive recycle items during regular Museum hours every Friday and Saturday from 1 - 5pm.

The spot...a Child's Museum continously needs a variety of child-appropriate building and crafting items to carry out the theme of Recycle-Upcycle for art, engineering, and science exhibits in the Museum. We need to replenish our year-long supply with the most popular items children use. The items we need most are those that make great parts or bodies of vehicles, robots, buildings, machines, art projects and creatures of all kinds. We encourage the community to donate materials, particularly those of unusual size, shape and function, such as:

  • Cardboard: Clean and dry boxes, tubes (no toilet paper tubes, please) and containers
  • Plastics: Clean and dry to-go containers, boxes, toy parts, bottles, tubes, and containers
  • Weavables: Ribbons, ties, belts, scarves, yarn, string, rope, twine, craft items and so on
  • Junk Drawer Items: Beads, buttons, keys, bottle caps, paper clips, coins, CDs, and many items from the home junk drawer!
  • Metals/Mechanical: Nuts, bolts, wire, pliers, screws, and scissors
  • Scrapbooking materials: patterned papers, stickers, stencils, stamps, and embellishments

We respectfully ask that you do not bring us newspaper, scrap white paper or shredded paper. While we welcome colored and patterned "scrapbook" and construction paper, we have enough white paper at this time.  Thank you!
