Connecting the Dots

Northern Arizona’s First Children’s Museum!

…truly a place of discovery!

the spot… spelled backwards is tops! An amazing partnership with the wonderful folks at our local mall, The Prescott Gateway Mall, resulted in a space, our "mini-spot" location where you can find us through the summer of 2012. A strong group of 100% volunteers open the Museum weekly for regular public hours every Friday and Saturday from 1:00 - 5:00 pm, and often for additional special events and fabulous programs. We hope you become one of the community participants!

At the spot…a Child’s Museum, children take center stage. It is a haven for young children and their families to inquire, discover, imagine and create. It is a place where kids are allowed to construct their world through open-ended experiences as they explore, practice skills, and learn. This museum honors and respects the creative and expressive work of children realizing that they are the primary participants in crafting their lives.

Early Exhibits

Upon opening the "mini spot" mall location in March 2009, our early primary focus was The Art Experience Spot which delighted children through exposure to local artists and a variety of media techniques, primarily through our weekly Recycle-Upcyle Art Experiences, an environmental theme that has carried on into today's robot building, simple machines and other S.T.E.M. exhibits in the Museum. The Art Experience Spot provided events that included all of the Fine Arts, featuring our local artists in residence…visual art, music, creative movement and dance, and storytelling, dramatic play and puppetry.

The early days of 2009 also featured The Wee Spot for Toddlers. We believe all children have special talents and varied interests. They should be provided opportunities to use their creativity and their imaginations, no matter their age.

Current Exhibits

Our current group of exhibits, all under the broad-reaching theme Quantum Quizzics: Hands-On Science for Inquisitive Kids, debuted in November 2010 and has demonstrated our committment to S.T.E.M. - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Since that time, Quantum Quizzics' individual experience areas have included everything from giant Tinker Toys, feats of engineering, gear and magnet tables and giant build-your-own robots. September 2011 brings a whole new set of experiences including air, light, water, robots, magnets, a research lab and more! (Explore our exhibits here.) In all of the exhibits, we deliver challenging and engaging programs as well as provide unique activities for children that embed essential life skills, and basic core knowledge about science, math, history, arts, technology, and language.

Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. - Albert Einstein

Get Involved

There are so many ways we can use the special talents and participation of interested citizens. Help us raise money, for this endeavor and through this mini-spot we are raising awareness about the importance of building foundational skills in childhood and raise hopes for the future though our children, their families and the spot! We hope every community member will find a way to support this mission! Are you an artist? Art you a teacher? Are you a volunteer? Are you a donor? Are you a sponsor?
